May 1, 2009 Drilling for oil in the 21st century Nor-Tech clusters contribute to a seismic shift in geological imaging
Seismic imaging turns recorded seismic field data into graphics that geoscientists use to study geologic formations, determine reservoir geometries, and derive reservoir properties. The software provides a full spectrum of seismic processing, imaging, and characterization technologies to transform subsurface signal to high-quality reflection images, models, and prospects. Geophysicists rely on HPC clusters to generate images that can be used to generate prospect maps and geological models. Nor-Tech is customizing the award-winning ruggedized portable cluster, which will have the capability to collect and process data on site and in the field. Ushering in a new era of onsite, high-performance computing, Portable Clusters by Nor-Tech are highly ruggedized and extremely mobile. The mobile supercomputers run cool, save energy and are able to operate up to 128 compute cores on two 120VAC 20-amp circuits.
