MINNEAPOLIS (PRWEB) November 16, 2015

Nor-Tech (Northern Computer Technologies) just announced the availability of a cutting-edge Demo Cluster for CAE/CFD/FEA applications. The cluster allows clients and prospects to test out their simulation software and see the cost-saving and time-saving benefits firsthand of transitioning from a workstation to a supercomputer. This is a no charge, no obligation opportunity.

Nor-Tech President and CEO David Bollig said, “The idea was born out of necessity—we knew how thrilled our existing clients were with the increased speed and cost-savings of their high performance clusters; we wanted to give prospects a real world demonstration of the benefits of transitioning from a workstation to an HPC. We are one of the only custom supercomputer builders I know of that offers this.”

Bollig continued, “The difference in performance between a workstation and a supercomputer isn’t just incremental—it is a giant leap. Clients who have made the transition see significant improvement in run times; better resolution; better utilization of their engineering staff; a more efficient use of CAE software licenses and often a reduction in license count; and shorter time to market. This all becomes immediately apparent when prospects run their simulation software on our Demo Cluster.”

When the client is ready to begin the demo, Nor-Tech will reconfigure the hardware and software and provide access to the Demo Cluster. The client will run the software under Nor-Tech’s supervision during the mutually agreed upon timeframe, which could be hours or days. In circumstances where there is sensitive information involved, Nor-Tech will typically sign an NDA.

Although Nor-Tech isn’t bringing the actual Demo Cluster to SC15, their experts will be on hand to discuss benefits, specific situations, and client successes; and schedule SC15 attendees to use it.

“In addition to the cost and timesaving benefits, working with the Demo Cluster is an excellent opportunity for people to see just how easy it is to deploy, use and manage an HPC,” Bollig said. “If you can use a desktop, you can use one of our HPCs.”

Demo Cluster simulations run on the latest Intel Xeon CPU and accelerators like the Intel Xeon Phi and NVIDIA GPUs. Nor-Tech’s engineers will configure the Demo Cluster to run a range of CAE simulation applications/utilities including:
