Motherboards
Intel® Lead
Free Desktop Boards
This Desktop Board is a
European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances (EU
RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC) compliant product. EU RoHS restricts the
use of six
materials. One of the six restricted materials is lead.
This Desktop Board is lead free although
certain discrete components used on the
board contain a small amount of lead which is necessary for component
performance
and/or reliability. This Desktop Board is referred to as “Lead-free
second level interconnect.” The board substrate and the solder
connections from the board to the
components (second-level connections) are all lead free.
China bans the
same substances and has the same limits as EU RoHS; however it
requires different product marking and controlled substance information.
The required
mark shows the Environmental Friendly Usage Period (EFUP). The EFUP
is defined as
the number of years for which controlled listed substances will not
leak or chemicallydeteriorate while in the product.

Intel provides Material Declaration Data Sheets (MDDS) to demonstrate
compliance to EU RoHS. Many, but not all, MDDSs are located at http://intel.pcnalert.com/.
If you have difficulty finding the correct MDDS, or have a general RoHS
inquiry, send an email to rohs@intel.com.
Note: Most Intel MDDSs contains EU RoHS information, and China RoHS
information.

RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC)
The Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (RoHS) Directive was passed into law by the European Union
(E.U.). It affects manufacturers, sellers, distributors and recyclers
of electrical and electronic equipment containing lead, cadmium, mercury,
hexavalent chrome, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl
ether (PBDE). From July 1, 2006 the use of these materials has been severely
restricted in most electrical and electronic products sold in Europe.
In 2003, Kingston began the process of converting all of its products
to be built in compliance with the RoHS Directive. Qualification of RoHS-compliant
components supplied by our vendors and the implementation of new manufacturing
processes related to this Directive was undertaken in 2004 and 2005.
All of Kingstons products and their packaging materials sold to Europe
became fully RoHS-compliant on July 1, 2006. Occasionally, in order to
meet special requests from customers we may supply certain legacy products
for which RoHS-compliant components are unavailable from our suppliers
for use in older equipment. For other regions, Kingston will ship the
RoHS compliant memory and flash products upon request. A Declaration
of RoHS Compliance can also be provided. If you have questions regarding
the RoHS compliance of our products, please contact your distributor
or reseller.

Microsoft
Microsoft supports the manufacture of electronic
products with reduced hazardous substances and the proper recycling,
recovery and handling
of waste associated with those products. At a minimum, we implement
strict policies to ensure that our products and packaging fully comply
with the requirements of each government’s jurisdiction in
which we do business. This includes compliance with the WEEE and
RoHS Directives issued by the European Union (EU).
The letter and chart supplied below provide product specific information
about compliance with the RoHS directive. This directive restricts
the use of certain materials in products sold on the EU market, effective
July 1, 2006. Please use the letter and attached product chart to determine
the RoHS status of our products. If the product is listed, you may
use the letter and chart as our certification that placing the product
on the EU market is appropriate under the RoHS directive. If a product
for which you are seeking information is not identified, please contact
your Microsoft Hardware Account Manager for further information.
