The Client’s Challenge
This client was utilizing workstations for CAE, but realized that to improve their solve times, they would have to upgrade to an HPC cluster. They also needed the ability to run larger jobs and optimally solve multiple jobs simultaneously. In order to keep their intellectual properly secure within their own facility, an on-prem cluster was the only option.
The Nor-Tech/Intel Solution
Nor-Tech Senior Account Executive Bob Dreis put together a proposal and created a configuration to meet their needs today and for future expansion. They opted for Intel® Xeon® processors for a number of reasons, including the fact that FEA applications tend to run faster on Intel Xeon.
The Client’s Success
The client’s FEA application fully leverages the power of Intel 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable Processors with AVX-512 instructions to accelerate simulation performance. In addition, an RoCE MPI fabric offered them the balance of price/performance they were seeking.[1] “Their FEA application utilized the AVX-512 making Intel Xeon the smartest choice for this project,” Bob said. “I recommend Xeon because it works optimally for a range of software and is a solid choice for most computing needs.” Going forward, the client plans to expand their computers with Intel Xeon-based processors to maintain their Intel computing platform.
