Nor-Tech and Intel Orchestrator Team Up for Affordable HPC Computer Clusters
Nor-Tech, one of the only designers and builders of affordable high performance computer clusters for business and research organizations, announced the imminent rollout of clusters integrated with Intel’s HPC Orchestrator.
MINNEAPOLIS (PRWEB) August 25, 2016
Nor-Tech, one of the only designers and builders of affordable high performance computer clusters for business and research organizations, announced the imminent rollout of clusters integrated with Intel’s HPC Orchestrator. HPC Orchestrator is a licensed, value-add version of OpenHPC that will be supported by Intel and Nor-Tech. It has a Q4 product release date.
Nor-Tech President and CEO David Bollig said, “We worked with Intel on the development and testing of HPC Orchestrator for several months. Essentially it is Intel’s highly evolved, licensed version of the OpenHPC platform with the real bonus of continual OpenHPC innovations and improvements well into the future.”
HPC Orchestrator is designed to simplify HPC system software implementation and maintenance. It provides a pre-integrated, pre-tested, and pre-validated software stack that can significantly reduce the time required to integrate, configure, and maintain validated, reliable system software. It uses a hierarchical structure that allows dependency tracking across multiple MPI and compiler families.
HPC Orchestrator is available in three editions designed for progressively larger HPC infrastructures.
1. The basic edition covers the vast majority of the market, comprising relatively small deployments of a few racks.
2. The mid-level edition is geared towards deployments on the scale of the world’s top 500 supercomputers.
3. The most advanced edition is a flagship product for the very largest 50,000-100,000 node HPC systems.
Features and capabilities include:
- Compute Node Boot Types: diskless and diskful
- Provisioning Methods:
o Bare metal installation
o Warewulf base
o Image-based provisioning
o PXE-based provisioning
o Templated installation scripts
o Editable configuration input file
- Hierarchical structure, multiple development environment support
o Multiple MPI families
o Common scientific libraries included for multiple MPI/compiler combinations
- Includes integrated administrative tools and flexible development environment
- Utilizes common Linux update mechanisms (e.g. YUM, Zypper)
Nor-Tech’s affordable clusters will pair well with HPC Orchestrator and are available in iterations that include: ultra-quiet clusters, ruggedized portable clusters, true open-source software clusters featuring OpenFOAM and ParaView, and clusters with a combination of those attributes.
Nor-Tech built its international reputation on the industry’s easiest-to-deploy cluster solutions and guaranteed no wait time support. The company designed and built the HPC cluster that enabled the first detection of a gravitational wave—a discovery destined to change history. In addition to HPC clusters, Nor-Tech’s custom technology includes workstations, desktops, and servers for a range of applications including CAE, CFD, and FEA. Clients include some of the most respected organizations in the world. Nor-Tech engineers average 20+ years of experience and are responsible for significant high performance computing innovations. The company has been in business since 1998 and is headquartered in Burnsville, Minn. just outside of Minneapolis.
