One of our favorite long-term clients is the FAA. We started by building a state-of-the art cluster, with unique requirements, in 2013. Since the FAA had no available data center, we integrated a custom POD NEMA 4 mobile rack cabinet with integrated cooling that allowed installation in a standard office space without datacenter air conditioning. We worked with architectural engineers to plan power load, heat exchangers and floor loading. The completed cluster had 1300 compute cores with a QDR InfiniBand fabric.
Over the years, this cluster has been used for many medical studies related to aviation. And there is one more on the horizon. Right now, we are working on a complete software revamp in preparation for this new and exciting study. We are extremely pleased that FAA has once again chosen Nor-Tech for its HPC cluster solutions.
